- *Welcome to Waldex*
- Waldex is another reading tool from ARTWAY.
- © 1991 John J. Gaudreault
- Waldex TM is a copyrighted ARTWAY TM FreeWare Waldo TM
- utility.
-
- Waldex requires HyperCard version 2.0 or higher.
- ^
- *What is Waldex *
-
- Waldex allows you to create an index for a Waldo document.
- You put titles into the Index Field and put an Index Word at
- the head of a series of titles. With the text "locked," click on
- a title to be taken to that Page. Be sure to name a series
- of titles with an Index Word on a line by itself at the
- head of the titles (that that word is indexed for). Take care
- to keep all series of indexed titles in alphabetical order of
- the Index Words.
- ^
- *Creating a Waldex*
- Use either the Button Title List to transfer Titles to the
- Title List or save Titles directly to the Title List. Save the
- Title List to disk using the Title List utility. It is recommended
- that you name the files with the name of the word indexed plus
- a number
-
- (video1.tl, video2.tl, video3.tl).
-
- These are the Pages where an important idea or concept appears.
- Use a wordprocessor, or DA, to copy and paste titles into the
- Index Field of Waldex. Waldex utility button will only load files
- with a ".il" extension. To put a set of titles for an particular
- Index Word into numerical order (by Page number) unlock the text
- and select a series of titles and click the Sort Button. Be sure
- no to select the Index Word itself!
-
- NOTE: The Sort Button is named "****" until the text is unlocked.
-
- ^
- *You may create multiple index in Waldex* by choosing the
- New Card command from the Edit menu. Choose Delete Card
- to remove Index Pages. Each Index Page may be named and
- have a unique index. Having multiple Pages makes it easy to
- paste from one index to another.
-
- You may transfer to another person a Waldex loaded with
- titles or you may transfer the Index List that you
- have saved to disk--the receiving person may load your
- Index List into Waldex with the Waldex Utility Button.
- ^
- *Naming Waldex*
- Lastly be sure to name particular copies of Waldex
- with the name of the Waldo document it references.
- If the name of your document is "MacNews" then name its Waldex
- "MacNewsHelp".
- To be accessed in Waldo the particular
- Waldex must be placed at the same level (next to)
- the document it references. You go from Waldo to the Waldex
- by choosing Help from the Go menu or "command ?" from the
- keyboard. This takes you to the Waldex for the current document
- in Waldo. Find the Index Word you are interested in and click on the Page title you want and you will be taken to that Page.
- ^
- *There you are!*
- It is really very simple.
-
- Now, if you feel you need another table of contents for a Waldo
- document Waldex can be used for that purpose also.
-
- Look for other Waldo utilities.
-
- ARTWAY will be publishing ARTWAY Waldo E-books.
- ^
